Things I Found Interesting on the Internet Today Part-Three

Hedgehog’s Dilemma

The Hedgehog’s Dilemma is the contradictory state of wanting intimacy and closeness while also wanting to keep people at arm’s length to avoid getting hurt. I came across this in the book I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki and immediately understood the feeling.

Hedonic Treadmill

The Hedonic Treadmill is the psychological idea that people eventually return to a relatively stable level of happiness even after major positive or negative life events. Humans adapt emotionally to circumstances very quickly, which explains why external success, material things, or constantly chasing goals often does not create lasting fulfillment.

The Unexpected Red Theory

The Unexpected Red Theory is an interior design idea that says adding a small, unexpected touch of red to a room often makes the entire space feel more stylish and visually balanced.

What interested me most was realizing that this also applies beautifully to fashion. A neutral outfit with just a hint of red — a shoe, bag, lip color, or accessory — suddenly feels more intentional.

Solomon’s Paradox

Solomon’s Paradox is the observation that people are often able to give wise and reasonable advice to others while struggling to apply that same wisdom to their own lives.

It is interesting how clarity becomes easier when we are standing outside the situation.

Glimmers

Glimmers are small moments in your day that create feelings of peace, joy, gratitude, comfort, or safety. They are considered the opposite of triggers.

I really like this concept because it encourages paying attention to tiny beautiful moments instead of only focusing on stress or anxiety.
